Celebrating 50 Years!

WAVES was feted by some 135 attendees at its 50th Anniversary celebration banquet on May 17, 2025. Tuscarora Country Club put on a fantastic feast that by all accounts was enjoyed by everyone attending.

Warren Darby, former Onondaga County undersheriff and current president of the Onondaga County Firefighters Association, served as master of ceremonies for the program. Speakers connected to WAVES’ past and present shared stories of WAVES’ growth over the last half century. Numerous raffle prizes were offered, and everyone received WAVES-decorated mugs and challenge coins.

Member Peter Sealy, an EMT and a former WAVES director, was honored for his 50 years of service and dedication. Director of Operations Ed Binns coordinated the program, which included his predecessor, Bill Ellis, Executive Director Eric Kehoe, former Onondaga County Legislator Ken Bush; and Robyn Whyland, representing her father William, a founding member of WAVES.
